Areas of Competency
This section is adapted from my academic E-Portfolio: the culminating project from my MLIS degree program. Each subsection herein addresses one of 14 "Core Competencies," deemed as essential to LIS theory and practice by SJSU's School of Information, in accordance with ALA accreditation standards.
Subsections are arranged as follows:
A statement of competency demonstrates my understanding of the area in question, typically in essay form.
A competency development section explains how my academic work, professional background, and/or personal experiences have contributed toward my competency within the given area.
A selected artifacts section contains examples of my work which reinforce my competency within the given area. All artifacts were produced within my MLIS program, or during my time as an intern at Portland State University Library.
A conclusion summarizes my understanding of the competency at hand, and offers perspective as to how it might inform my future work as an LIS professional.
A references section contains all relevant citations, as per APA 7 style guidelines.
